In figuring out the best place to purchase your computer you need to understand that hands down online is going to be your optimal prices. Other options include Craigslist, Ebay and local retailers. If you go to your local retailer more often than not they will be significantly more expensive as will direct from the main company.

If you choose to go with craigslist or Ebay you will notice they definitively are less expensive.  Just be sure to look for plenty of positive feedback on Ebay and a good return policy. This will typically limit risk as no one wants to ruin their credit rating on Ebay if they have a large positive history. While Craigslist has tons of used computers for sale I would advise steering clear of that avenue with computers as typically you are dealing with private parties with no warranty. They can be a money pit if you don’t have recourse if the computer has a problem.

Tip Number Three

Don’t forget to check all the plugs and USB ports. If one or more are not working it can be a major headache. It also can indicate that you have a problem with the motherboard which can really get expensive if you don’t have a warranty. Not to mention you can potentially lose your hard drive with no warning and potentially pictures as well as other files that you can’t put a price on. This is never a fun experience if you’ve had it happen to you. So again be sure to deal with a reputable party that supplies a same as new warranty which is not hard to find.

We are all looking for a perfect computer yet everyone needs to understand that all computers eventually will have a problem. It’s a fact of life. The question is when will it be and will yours be under warranty at the time of occurrence? Chances are if you go with a refurbished cheap desktop computer you will have years of enjoyment with the peace of mind of a great warranty.
