If your looking for used computers for sale you’re not alone. With many struggling to make ends meet the good news is technology deals are everywhere right now. If you’re in need of a new desktop computer or cheap laptops for you or the kids the time has never been better to consider a used or certified refurbished desktop computer or refurbished laptop for warranty reasons. Most all major manufacturers are now supplying the same exact warranties as brand new units. This makes the risk of getting a lemon nonexistent.  If you do they simply will replace it.

The Irony is that these new refurbished computers often hold up better than new computers.  Due to some very large leaps in testing capability and quality control the new certified refurbished computers just simply are better tested machines. They are checked and cross checked to make sure all components are performing perfectly.

It’s a common misunderstanding that parts are repaired. If by chance a component is not working up to specs the part is simply scrapped. What many are completely unaware of is often these “used” computers actually have fifty or one hundred percent new components inside the tower.  They are far from worn out as many believe. Companies would never list these used computers for sale if they had any fear they would be getting shipped back at a high return rate.

Despite the fact that companies are now offering same as new warranties it’s always a good idea to spot check some very basic things before you put a bunch of time into loading all your favorite programs and customizing things to your preferences. These simple tips can help eliminate a lot of wasted time in case you happen to get a lemon. While these instances are rare it never hurts to be aware of these points.

Tip Number One

A really great rule of thumb is to check out some of the best computers from last year or at the beginning of this year. Obviously those with the best reviews are the ones you should target in your search for used computers for sale.

Tip Number Two

In figuring out the best place to purchase your computer you need to understand that hands down online is going to be your optimal prices. Other options include Craigslist, Ebay and local retailers. If you go to your local retailer more often than not they will be significantly more expensive as will direct from the main company.

If you choose to go with craigslist or Ebay you will notice they definitively are less expensive.  Just be sure to look for plenty of positive feedback on Ebay and a good return policy. This will typically limit risk as no one wants to ruin their credit rating on Ebay if they have a large positive history. While Craigslist has tons of used computers for sale I would advise steering clear of that avenue with computers as typically you are dealing with private parties with no warranty. They can be a money pit if you don’t have recourse if the computer has a problem.

Tip Number Three

Don’t forget to check all the plugs and USB ports. If one or more are not working it can be a major headache. It also can indicate that you have a problem with the motherboard which can really get expensive if you don’t have a warranty. Not to mention you can potentially lose your hard drive with no warning and potentially pictures as well as other files that you can’t put a price on. This is never a fun experience if you’ve had it happen to you. So again be sure to deal with a reputable party that supplies a same as new warranty which is not hard to find.

We are all looking for a perfect computer yet everyone needs to understand that all computers eventually will have a problem. It’s a fact of life. The question is when will it be and will yours be under warranty at the time of occurrence? Chances are if you go with a refurbished cheap desktop computer you will have years of enjoyment with the peace of mind of a great warranty. Ice it off with it being typically half the price makes it a no-brainer these days for those looking at used computers for sale.
